Looking for advice on stoves for backpacking? I have compiled a bunch of information about the different types of stoves and their advantages and disadvantages. My current recommendations are to use alcohol stoves for ultralight backpacking, canisters for lightweight, ease of use with the ability to simmer, and white gas stoves for very cold/high altitude camping.
What to choose? Titanium, aluminum or stainless steel? I will give you my recommendations for both personal kits and small group kits.
The pot cozy is amazing. I started using them when I entered into the ultralight camping craze. I will never go back, even when lightweight camping is not the goal. They have a ton of advantages.
If you really want to make great meals in the back country, you need to get a dehydrator. It opens up so many possibilities you won’t believe it. In addition, home dried foods are of a much higher quality then anything I have gotten in a store.
